Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
